The Attributes of God

Course Dates: February 8, February 22-March 15, 2026

Course Description: Mankind never rises above his understanding of God. Every individual conducts his or her life based on their understanding of who has the divine right to give individuals and society their laws and morality. Likewise, it has been said that a Christian’s beliefs and understanding about the nature of God will directly impact their sanctification pathway. We find the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:8–10 expressing his desire for “… the surpassing worth of knowing Christ, and knowing him and the power of his resurrection.” God, in His infinite love, has, by revelation in the Bible, declared certain things to be true of Himself so that we may know who He is. These we call His attributes.

In this 5-week study, using the book, The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer as a reference point, we will examine the incommunicable attributes of God, that is, those attributes that only exist in God (trinitarian nature, self-existent, self-sufficiency, eternality, infinitude, immutability, omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, transcendence). In this study, we will dive into the Holy Scripture that reveals each of God’s attributes and the impact on us as we understand who God says He is.

The goal of this study is for the participant to have a deeper understanding of God’s attributes and fulfill a command found in Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
