lord of the sea

Course Title: Lord of the Sea - Raging Storms | Reigning Christ

Course Dates: 5 Weeks –January 4–February 1

From Genesis to Revelation, the sea plays an active and antagonistic role. Its presence leads us to ask questions such as, Why does the Lord repeatedly rebuke the sea throughout the Bible? What is the purpose of the chaotic sea monsters lurking in the deep? Why does Revelation list the sea (along with crying, pain, and death) as the first of the seven realities that will pass away and be “no more” in the new creation (Rev 21–22:5)? In this course, we will trace the negative sea theme throughout the story of Scripture to discover that the sea and its monsters often swell with overtones of evil and chaos. This watery theme also fills us with hope as we revel in the glorious truth that the Lord always reigns victorious over the raging storms in our lives. Join us for this 5-week course, starting January 4 at 6 pm!
Course Objectives:
1. Students will be able to identify the biblical-theological theme of the negative sea.
2. Students will be able to analyze this thread exegetically.
3. Students will be able to paraphrase the theological and practical significance of this theme.
4. Students will be able to synthesize a whole Bible understanding of the purpose of the sea and its monsters.
